-Zero Emissions No Noise-
~Introducing the Zenn~

I got this video from a Canadian friend of mine via facebook.
I am quite fascinated with this car and would buy one if I had the money to do so.
This video is pretty funny in a tongue and cheek sort of way.

Tell me what you think of a car like this for $12,000. The closest one to it I have seen is the Tesla which is a gorgeous car but costs over $100K.. This is actually an affordable, if not pretty looking, alternative.
And they are made in Canada but illegal to sell and drive there. Something is wrong with this picture....

That looks and sounds great. I wonder how much electric it takes to power it up and how long it will run, and if it can switch over to gas if the power gets low?

Nice idea, but ...

It's interesting, all right. My question (also) is what kind of range it has. You know, I live in the wide-open spaces, and a 100-mile round trip is hardly out of the ordinary for me. Is the Zenn up for that kind of duty?

Maybe it's designed for urban use only, where distances are fairly short. It apparently doesn't have a gas engine that you can switch to when the battery gets low.

Strange that only certain provinces allow it. And as for electric cars in general, won't they run up your power bill if you're recharging them all the time? And the extra strain on generators, power lines, etc, etc.?

Well, the range is only 35 miles and it's only capable of going 25 mph so I'm thinking this is only for a small select group of users. And "zero emissions" is a bit of a misnomer. The electricity it runs on creates emissions somewhere. However, it IS easier to control emissions from a point source like a power plant so that's better (but not zero.)

Pretty nifty car overall. I wish it were something I could use.
