Just little atoms

Woman of Feathers posted something like this recently. It was simply a series of pictures taken by the Hubbell space telescope (and now I can't find her post, darn it).
I wrote something along these lines: That the distances mentioned in her captions--a galaxy X million light years across, located XXX million light years away--really should show us how inconsequential and insignificant man is in the grand scheme of things. We may think we are pretty hot stuff, but we're just a little atom in this universe.
We go around thinking we can rule Nature. Sort of like Mickey Mouse in the sorcerer's outfit, thinking he has the waves of water at his command and make them do as he pleases. Then he wakes up, and he's adrift in water he can't do anything about.
That's why I love looking up at the stars and planets. On a really dark night, in a really dark place, it's awe-inspiring. Space is so incomprehensibly huge. And we are just tiny little atoms. So maybe we had better start treating the other little atoms a little better.
Congrats on getting the art class!

Well of course I would love that video...one just has to visit me and you'll know that I am absolutely fascinated by space, planets, stars and all that goes with galaxies etc.
The Hubble Space Telescope is most amazing and truly awe-inspiring. The pictures and images that it projects back to us here on Earth are definitely like none other and I think that we're blessed to have such a telescope.
Wouldn't it be something if one day it sends us proof of other life out there. I say bring it on...I think it's naive of us to think we're the only ones in this galaxy, or any other for that matter!
Thanks for posting that video...
